A downloadable game

Description of the vertical slice

This game will be played in a top down view, with a point and click style. There will be a player (the killer/villain) and npcs (the potential victims), these move whenever the player executes an action.

The vertical slice will consists on a level based on a house and a patio, the house will have multiple floors and interactive objects. The objective of the player is to execute actions that increase suspense, before executing them. The higher the suspense, the higher the points obtained.

To achieve this, the following systems/mechanics will exists:

  • Point and click movement;
  • Objects with context menu (ex: click a window and it shows to knock or open it);
  • High Score system;
  • Suspense bar/system, certain actions increase suspense, the higher before killing the more points;
  • NPCs reactions to actions;
  • Chained events, some actions increase suspense but lock other actions, and may result in a failed assassination;

Win Condition: Killing everyone in the level with the highest score;

Lose Condition: Not being able to kill anyone.

Story Concept:

We live in a world where, for some reason, certain individuals become truly monstrous, taking being a serial killer to the extreme, sometimes becoming things we only imagine in movies (TBD why they transform).

But the society in this game, instead of living with them and allowing themselves to be annihilated, has created programs that identify who will become one, even before they become this "monster" (it could be Jason, it could be Samara, it could be Godzilla).

They hire them for the world of entertainment, and we transition from a world where movies are just movies to a world where it's accepted to let this monster go kill, record everything, and create something with that piece.

This is where all the gameplay comes in.

We take control of one of the monsters that will be used for filming, and it's our duty to create a more spectacular murder than we can. How do we do that? By increasing the stress test of the victim. We can do things from turning off lights to locking windows, and everything we do creates a chain of events because we might scare them so much that, although we didn't lock them in, they escape. The goal is to maximize the stress test and end with a grand murder.
